Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 4.9 / 5 from 115 reviews.

I did a lot of research on different lumbar packs and so glad I picked this one. Hands down the highest quality, and I tried many different brands. It is super versatile and has a simple clean look. The best.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Usual evergood quality and the deceptive expansion thats in all their designs! Stealth pocket hides my memobottle so well TSA missed it lol. Impressive cant wait for the ultra version hint hint.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L - X-Pac

Like the other Evergoods bag I have, the craftsmanship is impeccable on this. Not a stitch out of place. Very high quality bag. I also love the X-Pac material, which lends a good amount of shape retention to the bag and feels super sturdy, as well as resists water and abrasion. The only downsides are the proportions: the bag wears bigger than it seems to actually hold. The bag really doesn't look right as a front-worn sling (it's too bulky), and I personally think it looks too bulky when worn as a fanny pack. Yet the interior space is smaller than the appearance might suggest, if that makes sense. I use it as a back sling. For me it's a small EDC bag or a waterproof uncushioned camera bag. It fits (snugly) a paperback book, sunglasses case, phone, keys, wallet *or* a small DSLR with a pancake lens in the main compartment and phone, keys, wallet, in the smaller one. And I'm very happy with that! Just want everyone to know exactly what they're getting with this particular form factor. Overall it's a great bag and I'm very pleased.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L - X-Pac

I have been using the CAS2 daily for the past few weeks and absolutely love it. I bought the MHP3.5 hoping to get essentially the same excellent concept with a little more capacity. Unfortunately, one important difference in the internal organization makes the MHP much less useful for me. In the CAS2, the smaller elongated compartment has open drop-in pockets on one side, but more importantly, three zippered pockets on the opposite side: two smaller mesh pockets and one long pocket. I use these for medication, Band-Aids, my hearing aid case, ear protection, earplugs, and a small knife. For me, these zippered pockets are essential. Small items stay organized and, more importantly, cannot fall out if I happen to pick up or open the sling in the wrong orientation. The MHP3.5 has useful open drop-in pockets in the larger compartment, but they cannot replace the secure zippered organization of the CAS2. To carry the same items safely, I would need to put them into a separate organizer pouch and then put that pouch inside the MHP. That somewhat defeats the purpose of the excellent built-in organization I appreciate so much in the CAS2. Otherwise, I like the additional capacity of the MHP3.5. It is about the same length as the CAS2 but considerably bulkier in its other dimensions. To me, it feels less like a larger CAS2 and more like a very small alternative to a backpack. I also prefer the exterior fabric of the CAS2; the MHP fabric feels finer, smoother and somewhat thinner, although I understand that this may be a deliberate choice to keep the larger sling relatively lightweight. What I would really love to see from EVERGOODS is a “CAS2.5”: essentially the CAS2 made a little wider, with around 2.5–3 liters of capacity, while retaining its current internal organization, especially those three zippered pockets. I would buy that immediately. One note for customers in the EU (Germany): international shipping adds significantly to the final cost. For my order to Germany, I paid $30 for shipping, plus approximately €15 in FedEx handling/clearance fees and almost €30 in import charges. EU customers should therefore be aware that the final landed cost can be considerably higher than the listed product price. The MHP3.5 is clearly a well-designed product, but for my particular EDC setup, the secure organization of the CAS2 is simply too important to give up.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Been using the hip pack for hiking with the dog and it works really well for carrying dog bags ,treats, water, and everything else. I love the pass through for a windbreaker/extra shirt. I have found that a flexible water bottle/pouch works better than a traditional hard bottle. Seems like a 1L Nalgene fits but is awkward. The X-pac is a cool material and with brown interior, the pack looks amazing. I definitely didn’t need this level of durability for my use case but not complaining about it. It’ll last forever. Besides, the limited edition colorways are worth it. The low profile buckle system is perfect, I didn’t expect to appreciate it as much as I do. It makes moving the pack around from shoulder to hip, front to back, smooth. Big fan of evergood’s mountain line in general and can’t wait to see what comes next.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L - X-Pac

I have the smaller Civic sling and wanted something with room for a water bottle and a bit more gear. This 3.5L Xpac model works great as a shoulder sling and is the perfect size between a small sling when a daypack is more than I need.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L - X-Pac

Ive been looking for a sling that fits my needs as a dad on the go. Although I have a handful of other slings, The Mountain Hip Pack is my go to sling! The materials and build quality are top notch. I was so impressed by it I purchased other Evergoods products.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

So I have this in the regular nylon version. It's the same great design. X pac doesn't have any stretch to it and has more structure to it, which let's it maintain its shape much better. I don't think it's necessarily better than the original nylon, but I do prefer the X pak version because of that.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L - X-Pac

This is my first Evergoods product and it's by far an amazing hip pack. Because of how it's shaped, it doesn't work as well as a sling. It feels great to the touch and sturdy. The the strap management took some time to get used to, but it works. I wish there was a bit of organization in the larger main compartment, but that's my own personal preference.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I have the 2L Civic Access and use it as my everyday wear but needed something bigger for a trip to Ireland where I wanted to carry a camera, headphones, and small binoculars...and it's just the right size while still being able to hold my passport and such. Same sturdy build and look. I exclusively use these as crossbody for most things but used it as a hip sling when going on longer treks.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I have had the CAS 2 liter for a while and have loved using it, but in certain situations, I might have liked to have a little more space. This is where the MHP 3.5 comes in. It is similar to the CAS2, but with more space (and a couple extra features). If you love a CAS2 but need more space, look no further. If you haven't had the pleasure of the CAS2, then what you will find here is a great mix of organization for thin/small items and a cavernous section for larger items. The sleeve that allows you to compress the bag or stuff in a jacket or hang out a wet item is a very nice addition to the capabilities.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

if they'd made hip packs like this in the 90s, hip packs would never have gone out of style. Perfect size for a subcompact camera, spare battery and sunglasses. Awesome for a day out on the town. Sturdy as hell. Looks great in green.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Best hip pack, I've ever had! I use them a lot and went through multiple ones. This one is definitely more pricey, but it's so worth it! Very high quality of everything and it seems like it's going to serve a long time. Super convenient pockets and zips, side buckles make it very comfortable to wear as a sling (that's how I always wear it), compared to many others I had. It's a bit smaller than my previous hip bag, which I was a bit worried about, but very good organization and pockets makes you feel that it's actually larger. Huge recommend! Will definitely buy more products from them when I need another bag.

Customer photo review of MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I have the hip-bag-waxed-canvas-version and i reeeally like it. Especially the build quality and the details are super nice – like the belt, that can be attached on both sides. I hope I will have it for a super long time! (Please not the custom patch on the Velco-Spots.)

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Perfect bag for weekends, small hikes and travel. I love it can be used both on shoulder or waist. It may not be very lightweight as standalone, but the bands are so comfortable that I don't feel much fatigue after a long day of use with items inside (for example a bottle of water). I have the undyed version so it feels more close to the nature.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Incredibly versatile! I use it for days in NYC and day hikes. Can hold more than you'd think and carries a heavier load out comfortably. The external sleeve proved to be more useful than I initially expected. Typical A+ Evergoods design and build quality too.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I have the griffin edition of this bag, and I really love it. Especially details like the both-side-detachable-belt. It is more on the expensive side, but the quality is amazing. I also had a small issue with the bag, but the support was MORE than helpful! 10 out of 10.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

My favorite sling. It is a bit bigger than most standard slings.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I love it, large enough to put all my work tools

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I loved the civic access sling so much, I had to have this. It exceeds my expectations! Won’t be looking back. Evergoods makes the best slings!

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Amazing. I ordered this after receiving the 2L and being completely floored by the quality and how beautiful it was in person. This is exactly the same. I'm late to the Evergoods party, but better late than never!

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I've got the ECOPAK version and it's been wonderful. I was in the market for a sling/hip pack that works while I bike or hike smaller trails. It works well for both and the comfortability is top notch.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Customer photo review of MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I love my Mountain Hip Pack. Since having to return to the office it’s been the perfect size for me. In the past I used a backpack (GoRuck GR1) but I’ve been focusing on carrying only what really matters and I love the freedom that comes with using this sling instead. Also the thoughtfulness that goes into the Evergoods gear is on another level compared to GoRuck. I want to eventually get an Evergoods backpack for travel and an expanded EDC but am waiting for better colors. The blue is great. Please make non-black colors available more often Evergoods!!!

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

This has been my go-to hip pack since I got it. It has organization for everything and then plenty of room for anything else I need on top of that. It's the perfect size for all my daily carry needs.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I mainly use this as a day hike bag and love it for that. I usually start wearing it as a sling and switch to hip mode, when it gets hot. I also have a few thoughts on what I would change if I could: The idea of having straps to pull it flat is good, but it's not well executed here. The bag simply looses its good looks when you try to slim it down. Either find a better way or leave them off. It would be easier to store some larger items in the main compartment, if the opening were a bit larger. Don't get me wrong, it's not small by any means, but making it even more accessible would be golden especially for larger water bottles. I rarely use the front sleeve and so I'd much rather have a slightly larger main compartment than the sleeve. I think it would also make it look cleaner. Hey, maybe there's room for a Civic Access Sling 4L :)

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Pretty happy with the blue version I got. Can fit a fair amount in it. Had to buy a small 350ml bottle to fit inside since it's not quite large enough to store a normal sized water bottle as I had hoped.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I've had a few slings and this is the first waist pack I've owned and I have to say I really like it a lot. The belt is super easy to adjust and all of the workmanship is evident throughout the bag. Great value. Very pleased!

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I never knew I needed a fanny pack until I bought the waxed canvas version of the 3.5 L. It is now the most important part of my everyday carry bag for work! Lightweight but holds everything I need, while looking great doing it!

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

The MHP 3.5 is a rugged and highly capable hip pack that works just as well for everyday carry as it does on the trail. The Coyote Brown color gives it a classic, utilitarian aesthetic, and the materials feel bombproof. The fit is incredibly comfortable whether worn around the waist or across the chest, and the main compartment provides plenty of space without feeling oversized. It’s a perfect example of how EVERGOODS balances performance, durability, and smart design.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Evergoods has done it again with this sling. I wear it mostly in fanny pack mode. I love everything about this sling from the fabric to the excellent pocket layout. Oh and my wife loves it to which is why I’m going to have to buy another.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

The perfect sling! It fits everything I need. I use it for EDC, biking, kayaking, and everything else. Its the only large sling I've ever used that can actually double as a fanny pack without feeling really awkward. The front pass though is great for a jacket on a hike, and the back organization pouch is so big I'm able to fit a small book back there along with my phone and wallet. Perfect for quick trips down to the café.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I love this sling- it fits a female body really well and isn't an amorphous brick blob like other slings. I was able to use this as my ONLY bag for a quick work trip- it fit an extra t shirt, water bottle, toiletries, and my everyday carry. Super comfortable on the shoulders and absolutely rugged. I wish I could buy another one in black. I am waiting for the smaller sling for everyday wear. Please make more slings!!

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Great sling. Only nit is that it’s very hard to get stuff into the stuff front section. One side should be a buckle.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I've given Evergoods to my family and they absolutely loved it. This pack held everything she caries everyday. She informed me that it was by far the best bag she has. The buckles are located at the edges instead of in the middle of the bag that adds to the comfort level.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

I got the MHP 3.5 in coyote brown to wear primarily as a sling. I had a lot of stuff I planned to cram into it and was initially disappointed that it didn't hold quite as much stuff as I wanted. Overpacking one pocket tends to intrude on another. The shape that hugs me nicely isn't as space efficient as the ends taper. However, as I've had it for a while and figured out how to best pack it, it has grown on me. The quality is excellent. The zips are laid out so the bag nearly falls open to access the stuff inside. The strap slack keepers have a tendency to catch on things and undo themselves occasionally. The cinch straps on the outside ended up being a nice place for clipping items. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. It fits the bill between a small sling and a messenger bag and I'm glad I got this over the CAS2.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Bought it to use mainly as a sling, but honestly it works much better as a fanny pack. As a fanny pack its amazing, almost disappears even with medium weight. As a sling some of the design compromises made for creating the optimal fanny pack really show up. If you need many a fanny pack and a sling from time to time, get it no question. If you are looking for mainly a sling I'd say look for their other offerings.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

2 year review - I picked up a MHP 3.5 in black before my honeymoon around Bali and Singapore in 2022. It was the perfect companion for bringing around the various sights while lugging a water bottle, sunscreen, passports and other small items with us throughout the trip, and was a lifesaver for keeping our stuff dry in the rain. It then became my go to for baby emergency carry with a few diapers, wipes, emergency pacifier, and water bottle (among other things) for when we forget our baby bag (more on that in the MPL22 page). I cannot be happier with this purchase, and would highly recommend if you like this style of hip pack.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Mountain Hip Pack is more than I expected! Roomy, comfortable and adjustment is easy. Coyote Brown is better than expected. Used on vacation trip and gravel biking.

MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L

Good sling for hikes but a bit bold for urban wear. I nene found a good use for the front slip pocket. I prefer to use mine for packing cubes and then convert them to slings on holiday.
