I’ve been carrying the Limited Edition Waxed Canvas in Olive for about a month now as my daily driver, and the build quality is simply outstanding. Evergoods nailed the pattern on this run; the olive waxed canvas feels hefty, holds its shape really well, and handles weather without breaking a sweat. It’s already starting to pick up subtle character marks from daily use, and you can tell right away that this material is built for the long haul. The pocket layout is as smart as it gets—stuffing the main compartment doesn't crush the top or front pockets at all. To dial in the ergonomics, I added a few practical touches. I threw on a DEFY leather handle wrap, which makes grabbing or carrying it briefcase-style way more comfortable on the hand and matches the olive tone perfectly. I also swapped to textured Hypalon zipper pulls for a much better, silent grip, plus a small Matador tag and clip for quick utility. Overall, after four weeks of daily carry, it has exceeded my expectations in every way. Absolute keeper.

The CTB20 in Waxed Tan is one of the most beautiful bags I’ve ever used. These photos are after around a year of using the bag. It’s still in incredible condition, developing a modest patina and looking just a little bit better every month. The pocketing is incredible. I’ve taken this on road trips, on EDC days into the office as a professor, and to conferences and trails. It’s comfortable and a really unique blend of travel and EDC, of rugged durability and professional style. Just the best all around bag I own. I also have the Ultra CTB26 and the Nylon CTB26, because I loved this bag so much. I’d kill for one more entry in the CTB line: a smallest entry between 14 and 18 liters to use as a dedicated under-seat personal item on flights with limited foot room. The CPL16 doesn’t quite work for this because it lacks a luggage passthrough, and the CTB20 fits on most flights but does take up enough legroom that an even smaller version would be a great addition to the lineup. I’d also love a CTB in 820d; the slightly higher weight would be worth the better feel for a lot of us. But those suggestions anre only because I love this bag so much. I honestly don’t feel like I need any other backpacks beyond CTB anymore. CTB20 and CTB26 are both brilliant, and waxed canvas is probably the best all-around fabric for them. I never got constant bag compliments until I got this bag. It’s beautiful in person and the canvas is so nice to interact with.

So far, so good! Love the look of the waxed canvas. all the zippered sections are great. There is so much flexibility to contain all my stuff and keep key things easily accessible. Fits me comfortably for trips to the office and treks thru the airport. My daily laptop backpack is probably 19L, and I was looking for something to help my usual 41L carry on accommodate longer business trips. This bag did not disappoint. No trouble fitting it under seats on Delta's short haul 717-200. Only downside is the price, but I'm happy with the quality so far. If the bag holds up, I'll likely buy another Evergoods bag in the future (this was my first EGs purchase).

I have both the CTB20 black and now the CTB26 wax; I love both bags; The CTB20 I use if I am feeling more personal non work adventures and just carrying my personal 16" macbook and some cloths/gear for plane travel and sometimes light bike path riding; When I need to carry my work laptop aka workstation plus books (engineer), I switch the the CTB26. I due feel my collection is missing something smaller than 20L. I have my eye on a CPL 16L in green - I feel that will serve as my daily trail riding mountain bike adventure go to backpack.

This backpack is beautiful. I love the feel of the waxed canvas material and the layout is perfect for me. I can stash my AirPods, credit cards, and gym lock in the top, easy access pocket, then slip my MacBook Air in the side laptop pocket with the Velcro strap to keep it in place. Then I can keep my gym clothes in the main compartment or throw stuff from the grocery store in there till I get phone. I use it every day, it’s super functional, looks great, and packs a lot of stuff for just 20L.

Absolutely love everything about this bag. The waxed canvas has an amazing feel to it and it’s true when other reviewers say that its capacity is deceptively underrated. For a 20L it carry’s more than it looks. Quality materials throughout. Wish that it came with strap keepers but I bought 1” coyote brown strap keepers off amazon which look great so it wasn’t a deal breaker. Highly recommend this bag.

Hands down the best backpack I’ve ever owned. You can fit an usually large amount of electronics in it and the pack distributes the weight in a way that you don’t feel like you’re carrying a heavy load. So many functional pockets and compartments that are very intentional. If I had to make an suggestions for improvement it would be to add zipper pulls to the inside compartments and maybe change the patch velcro spot on the outside to a more standard size since you’re limited to only square patches. These are minor suggestions, but still the best pack I’ve ever purchased.

Have the nylon and x-pac versions already. Was hesitant about the added weight but after having the Griffin Bookbag for awhile I've grown to really like waxed canvas. Gives the bag a lot of structure wihtout being overly stiff like x-pac and ultra. You can almost mold it like playdough to keep pockets open. The material feels great and really does get better with age. This will be a keeper for sure. Sad I missed out on the camo Griffin2.

I spent hours researching backpacks to find the right one for me. I wanted a good backpack to carry all my essential needs for work and daily life. The CTB kept coming up, however I was very hesitant to buy it due to the price. I did not want to have to spend a ton of money on a backpack. But as I was researching other bags none of them were able to meet the layout that I wanted and have the right materials. So I went ahead at bought the CTB 26 in waxed canvas, and I have no regrets! The materials are very durable and feel premium. I know this bag will last me the rest of my life. Yes it was an investment, but it’s a worthy investment. I know that I now have a good go-to bag that is very versatile. It is super comfortable to wear and convenient to use. I absolutely love the layout of all the pockets and organization. And it looks amazing! I went back and forth on whether or not I wanted the 20L or 26L version. Many people said that the 20L was best for every day carry but I was worried I would not have enough room. I eventually landed on the 26L and I think it is a great size for EDC! I am 6’3” and it is a very comfortable size to carry, even for a long time. Plus I always have the peace of mind for extra room if I want to pack more or use it for travel, and when I don’t pack it out all the way it still holds shape and looks good. I even reached out to customer service to ask about sizing and they responded to me within hours. Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of materials and thought that when into the design of this bag. If you are still on the fence about this bag or other Evergoods bags whether for EDC, work, school, travel, or whatever reason, I say that you should just get it. You will not regret it and you will be very pleased with the quality of your item. Even with the high price, you are getting what you pay for and it is worth every penny.

The Civic Travel Bag 26L in waxed canvas has far surpassed my expectations. I bought it for the look and the organization, but after my first trip with it, I’m genuinely glad I pulled the trigger. This thing holds a ton without feeling sloppy. I easily packed a laptop, Fire tablet, Sony WH-1000 headphones in the hard case, an extra monitor, an electronics pouch, and more, all without forcing anything. Despite being loaded up, it still fit comfortably under an airplane seat. Yes, it’s heavier than the nylon version, but that’s not a downside. The waxed canvas feels substantial and refined, and I’m actually looking forward to the patina it’ll develop over time with real use. The magnetic bottle pockets are excellent. They securely hold a Hydro Flask or a 1L Smartwater bottle with no issues, even when the bag is sideways on my rolling luggage. The only thing that will take some getting used to is the horizontal luggage pass-through. It works, it’s just different. Overall, this bag delivers on looks, organization, and real-world travel usability. No regrets.

I hope this review gets published. I know when I read only 5 star reviews I begin to question whether a company pads the reviews or not. First of all I am a bag fanatic. I love quality bags, the different designs, the build quality, all of that stuff. I spent the better part of 6 months looking for new everyday backpack, and watched countless YouTube videos. Kinda weird maybe, but it is disappointing when a bag does not live up to its hype and you waste good money. So, after a month of use, and careful consideration, as well as an email asking me to review the CTB26 in waxed canvas, here goes. The good. The build quality and materials are top notch. Maybe some of the best I have seen. For $300+ it should be and so far that does not disappoint. The size is perfect. I use the bag for carrying a 13" laptop, an iPad, a bunch of chargers, power bank, mouse, etc. I also carry an inch or two of files and catalogs. More than most people I would think. That makes a heavy load. CTB26 handles it all with ease. Seriously. the shoulder straps and the rest of the bag feel like it can handle more of a load. Most of my travel is done by car, and my bag sits on the passenger seat or the passenger floorboard. It also fit a full size C-Pap machine along with the computer and peripherals for an airplane flight, fits under the seat, although barely. The size is perfect for me. If you want heavy duty with plenty of room, this bag is top notch. Now for the less desirable features. These are probably more personal preference, but they may be important to some, and helpful to those on the fence. The orientation- this bag is left shoulder oriented. That was hard to get used to. I have carried right shoulder for as long as I can remember, and it has taken some getting used to, and quite frankly, it is something I would rather not have had to do. I did know that when I bought it, and it was one of my big hesitations. I would have preferred a top load laptop and neutral orientation. If you swing it right shoulder, nothing is easily accessible. And if you forget to zip a pocket, things will fall out. The patch hook and loop- while I appreciate proprietary design, making it a 2 x 2 limits the patch to pretty much only the Evergoods hi-viz patches. A 2 x 4 hook and loop would have been more universal. The fact that the designers made that choice tells me they were more interested in getting a sale on their patches than anything else. A little silly in my opinion. The harness/ride- a number of Youtube videos mentioned this, and I figured it was a petty gripe, but after using it for 3 days at a trade show, I noticed the issue and it became a big detriment. Unless I cinch it really super tight, it curves in significantly and rides on the belt, pushing the pants down. Now this could be just my build and height, but to keep it for happening I had to draw the shoulder straps tight and make it ride extremely high. Also, there could be a little more strap to work with. When putting it on, especially with a couple of layers like a sweater or jacket, I had to let the straps all the way out to get it on and it is a struggle. Again, that could be just a "me" issue. I have a 48" chest and larger torso, so that may not be an issue with a smaller overall frame. Another 2 inches of strap would have been nice. Top pockets/top heavy- while I love the top pockets, I would have liked to have seen a lower outside pocket. When you put things in the top pockets, the bag is very top heavy. It does not stand on its own very well. A bottom pocket would make it a little more balanced. It almost forces you to set it down like a briefcase, left side up. Perhaps an intentional design, but I would really have liked the option to put things lower and accessible from the outside. Overall I hope I get used to the design, as the build and materials are pretty awesome.

After trying the 26L, I wanted something that would fit perfectly as a personal item backpack. Not only does 20L is amazing as it fits more like 24L, but the waxed canvas is stunning. Unlike the 26L this doesn't ever get `too` heavy to need load lifters or hip belts, the sternum straps do the job perfectly. Can't wait to travel with this, and this also is the perfect size for EDC as well.

So far I"m pretty happy with this bag. I've had the CPL 24l for years and that has been a great bag but ever so slightly too small for my users these days. The CTB size is just the right amount of extra room. Not much I can say that others haven't on the materials. Great quality and of course the waxed canvas looks great. Gripes: The handles on my CPL24 are nice and stiff and have stayed that way. The material on the CTB Waxed is not as stiff and that covering is the type that on other bags I've had gets pills. Also seems like they might stretch over time. Evergoods, I think you should have used that same stiff waxed canvass for the handles. Also for me I would have preferred the colour to be the same as the bag like the black versions. Luggage pass through would be better if it was vertical and you don't really need more than a strap for that. No waterproofing on the zips. For such a premium bag with weatherproof waxed canvas this seems on oversight.

I’ve been searching for many years. I wanted a bag designed for business travel, with easy access to my documents for TSA checks. I also needed the option to use the bag as a camera bag with convenient side access. A few quick-access compartments for all travel essentials were important, as well as dedicated compartments for both my laptop and iPad Pro, since I always travel with both. Some other companies offer bags with a carry-on luggage passthrough, but most of those with a horizontal orientation don’t have the internal organization designed to work properly in that format. You, however, have arranged everything perfectly so that it all functions seamlessly, even in a horizontal setup. The comfort is also excellent — whether I’m going on a hike, walking around the city, or heading to a meeting, the bag feels great to carry in any situation. I’ve also added a camera cube, and the bag works perfectly for a compact camera setup. Personally, I carry a Fuji X100VI and a mini drone, and I can easily fit both with plenty of space left inside. This actually gave me an idea: it could be interesting to design a dedicated camera cube made specifically to integrate into the main compartment.

The Bag is tough! it withstood snag from trees, went through jungles, Sahara and the Swiss Alps. I will say that it is the best waxed bag that i ever have. Nothing compares to this. If would be better if the sternum strap is magnetic than conventional clip. That would be a better option .

The bag is beautiful (in my opinion) and very well built. I’ll use it for a very long time, I’m sure (I researched a ton of bags and this was the one I finally landed on after…months). It’s very well designed and, like I said, the quality is there but I have some gripes. The pockets are placed in such a way that you are forced to swing the bag around to your left. If this is not a natural thing for you it…does not become more natural over time. I’ve had the bag for a couple months now and every time I have to access something without taking the bag off completely it’s a struggle. Speaking of taking the bag off: the other pockets - the small one on top and the one just behind the shoulder straps - are, again, not easily accessible without completely removing the bag. I live in the city and have this on my back pretty much all day everyday and it’s…frustrating. I love that the bag is waxed canvas - I love the look and I’ve been desperate for a non-plastic/synthetic weather resistant fabric and this really fit the bill. That said, why is there not better weatherproofing for the zippers?? Reverse coils are demonstrably LESS weather resistant than regular. There are absolutely no zipper covers/flaps anywhere. And the design just leaves every zipper and seam completely open to the elements. So why make it with a great weatherproof fabric if every other failure point seems like it was left wide open and a complete afterthought? Oh, and last gripe - we gotta get rid of this horrible horizontal luggage passthrough nonsense. It's not difficult to make one that orients the bag vertically. Putting it on its side not only looks dumb but is completely impractical as it makes the bag and awkward, oblong object jutting off the sides of your suitcase if you choose to wheel it around. Sheesh. Listen, I like the bag a lot. I just think it was made by people who will be walking 5 minutes between their house, car, and work. Not someone who wears it all day and has to trudge through weather exposed - rain or shine - pretty much everyday.
