CIVIC Flat Pouch Pre-Order Opportunity

Last week, we launched our 5th Carryology collaboration. While we produced a total of 300 units, the Electric Coral colorway of the CIVIC Flat Pouch sold out within the first 10 minutes of the launch.

We instructed everyone to access the collaboration via a link found on the Carryology website at 8:00am MST. This past weekend, we received reports from a few customers that the Carryology site was temporarily not functioning for a small batch of individuals, resulting in an 8-minute delay. Unfortunately, many of these folks who showed up on time were unable to get the Electric Coral pouch they desired.

We build “fun” colorways, like Electric Coral in small batches because they’re risky. Candidly, color is very hard to nail. Even top-voted colorways in our annual customer survey are sometimes not purchased. This puts us in a tough position of sometimes needing to liquidate stock at discount.

However, we still desire to provide an equitable opportunity to purchase any color we sell.

So here’s what we’re going to do…

When we produce a collection with a custom-built textile, like the Kludde, we forecast sales in order to set quantities per product and colorway. Using those quantities, we compute the quantities of textile, webbing, zippers, labels, buckles and other components needed to produce the entire order.

This material order is far from straightforward, especially for custom-made articles.

Some items, like textile or webbing, may carry a minimum order quantity of 1,000-3,000 yards that must be met. Other items can only be ordered in multiples of 100 or 500 pieces.  Depending on the material and vendor, different colors and widths may be combined to meet these requirements, or every color and size variation must meet its own order requirements. In addition, our factory will order some percentage above the calculated requirement to cover the possibility of some material defect or manufacturing error.

All this is just to say that although we order materials as accurately as possible, we are never dealing with perfect quantities and every production run leaves behind random leftovers in various quantities that do not match up to simply making more units. 

Given that CIVIC Flat Pouch consumes a tiny amount of textile per pouch and its list of other custom-made components are quite small (compared to the backpack and sling),we’ve begun working with our factory to take the minimal TX70 ULTRA overage and apply it to a new ASAP batch of CFPs. 

The batch is on track to be ready to ship to customers by early January 2026. 

We will launch pre-orders for these pouches tomorrow morning, Friday, September 26th at 8am MST on the CIVIC Flat Pouch product page (link here). Please go directly to that link at 8am. We will not email about the pre-order. We will limit each order to 2 per colorway. Each pre-order will be final sale.

Additional Notes:

• Once the pre-order sells out, it is sold out. We do not have any plans to reproduce this custom-made textile or colorways.  

• Unforeseen manufacturing delays could push out the stated timeline of early January 2026. It could also arrive sooner. We will provide consistent updates via email to all those who place a pre-order. Please ensure you are subscribed to our marketing emails to get the most up to date information.  

• Please note, this type of ask could not be done for the MPL22 or CAS2 given the wide array of custom-made trims and hardware and their associated lead times. Also, both rare Arctic Kludde versions were available for an hour after launch, allowing for a more equitable opportunity vs. the fast-selling Electric Coral CFP.

• This type of timeline is only achievable because of the readily available textile at our factory and the small amount of associated components that are being rush ordered. A typical timeline for this type of product development takes nearly a year or more.

• If your order also includes in-stock items, we'll ship those ASAP, and you'll receive a separate shipping confirmation with tracking information. Once the CIVIC Flat Pouches are ready to ship, we'll send a follow-up email.
