Introducing the ULTRA Travel System.

The Backstory

Spend enough time around the carry community and you'll eventually hear someone mention ULTRA. Originally developed for ultralight outdoor equipment, it has earned a devoted following for combining exceptional strength, waterproof construction, and remarkably low weight.

Last year, our team sat down with all of Challenge Sailcloth’s ULTRA textiles and deeply assessed the properties of material. We asked ourselves, what type of collection could we build that leverages the best elements of ULTRA?

The answer was travel.

Travel asks more of your gear than almost anything else. It moves through changing weather, crowded terminals, rough pavement, overhead bins, and unfamiliar cities. Every ounce matters. Every failure matters.

Rather than applying ULTRA across our catalog, we built a focused system around one bag travel. Packed inside the core backpack is all you need for the destination: one sling and two packing cubes. That’s it. 

Together, the entire collection fits inside the CTB26 as a comprehensive and streamlined travel system.

The Materials

ULTRA has gained a devoted following for delivering exceptional durability at remarkably low weights. Challenge Sailcloth produces a range of ULTRA textiles for different applications, and the ULTRA Travel System uses two of them: ULTRA 200X for the backpack and sling, and ULTRA TX50 for the packing cubes.

Technically speaking, ULTRA 200X is a three-layer laminate. The face is a 200D blend of Ultra-PE and high-tenacity polyester, reinforced with Ultra-PE CrossPly yarn for additional bias stability and tear strength. A 0.75 mil film backing completes the laminate and provides 200+ PSI waterproofness.

At just 4.57 oz/yd² (155 gsm), the numbers are impressive. ULTRA 200X withstands 10,000 cycles in ASTM D3884 abrasion testing and records tear strengths of 103.1 lb warp and 133.2 lb fill under ASTM D2261. It's light, sleek, incredibly strong for its weight, and well suited for years of demanding travel.

For the packing cubes, we went lighter.

ULTRA TX50 is one of Challenge Sailcloth's lightest performance laminates, constructed from a 50D triple-ripstop high-tenacity polyester face, 45° Ultra CrossPly yarn for bias stability and tear strength, and a 0.25 mil PET film for waterproofness.

At just 2.4 oz/yd² (82 gsm), TX50 is the lightest performance textile we've ever used in an EVERGOODS product. Its thin, almost translucent construction made it a natural choice for packing cubes designed to deliver organization and compression while adding minimal weight to your travel kit.

The System

Each product stands on its own, but all four were designed to work together as one streamlined travel system. CTB26 carries everything from departure to arrival, CAS1 takes over once you reach your destination, and TPC10 and TPC4 organize the clothing and essentials packed between them.

Together, the entire system fits inside CTB26.

The Colors

Whether you're traveling across the globe or spending a long weekend in a nearby city, understated gear has a way of fitting in almost anywhere. That's why we chose ULTRA's Black Magic for the exterior of CTB26 and CAS1. It's far from a basic black. Depending on the light, it shifts toward charcoal, while the construction of ULTRA 200X gives the surface a subtle heathered appearance. The result feels technical up close and classic from a distance.

Inside, we went bright. A white 210D lining creates high contrast against your gear, making smaller items easier to spot throughout the bag and sling. It's a completely new interior color for EVERGOODS and unique to this system.

The packing cubes carry that idea one step further. White ULTRA TX50 mirrors the interior of the backpack and sling, while its nearly translucent construction gives you a glimpse of what's packed inside.

CTB26: The Journey

Once we decided to focus on travel, the centerpiece of the ULTRA Travel System was clear: our bestselling and award-winning CIVIC Travel Bag 26L. Since its debut in late 2022, CTB26 has traveled across the globe with our community, from daily commutes and quick weekend trips to weeks spent moving between countries. Its combination of organization, access, and all-day carry made it the natural platform for ULTRA 200X.

We carried the same thinking inside the bag. A custom 210D Nylon 6,6 lining reduces weight while maintaining durability, and its bright white color makes gear easier to spot while packing in a dim hotel room or reaching into an overhead bin. On the exterior, YKK RC zippers with a PU laminate help shed rain, snow, and splashes while maintaining smooth operation. Paired with the waterproof ULTRA 200X shell textile, they add another layer of weather resistance when the forecast, destination, or road ahead is unpredictable.

The result is a lighter, highly durable travel pack built for long days in transit, changing conditions, and years of trips ahead. It's the most performance-forward version of CTB26 we've ever produced.

CAS1: The Arrival

Once you reach your destination, the way you carry changes. The CTB26 stays at the hotel while a smaller kit comes with you for the day. At just 1L, our newest sling is built for exactly that role, carrying a phone, passport, wallet, sunglasses, and other essentials without weighing you down as you explore a new city.

For the ULTRA Travel System, we rebuilt CAS1 in ULTRA 200X, cutting weight while adding the exceptional durability and waterproofness of the shell textile. Inside, the same bright white 210D Nylon 6,6 lining used in CTB26 improves visibility and further reduces weight. The compact size and textile choices also make CAS1 easy to pack inside CTB26 while you're in transit, ready to deploy once you've arrived.

TPC10: The Loadout

Clothing makes up a significant portion of almost any travel loadout, so we wanted a packing cube that could organize and compress it while adding as little weight as possible. Transit Packing Cube 10L is sized for the bulk of your wardrobe, from shirts and pants to layers and other clothing needed for the journey ahead.

For the ULTRA Travel System, we rebuilt TPC10 in ULTRA TX50, an incredibly thin performance textile weighing just 2.4 oz/yd². We also removed the exterior accessory pocket found on our standard TPC10, simplifying the construction and reducing weight even further. Its integrated cinch and mechanical zipper compression remain, allowing you to overpack the cube before compressing everything into a streamlined package.

The result is a remarkably lightweight home for your travel wardrobe that nests efficiently inside CTB26 and adds minimal weight between destinations.

TPC4: The Essentials

Every trip comes with the smaller gear that never quite has a home. Socks and underwear, chargers and cables, toiletries, travel adapters, or the handful of essentials you want contained and easy to find. Transit Packing Cube 4L gives all of it a dedicated place without taking up more room than necessary.

Like TPC10, this version is built from remarkably lightweight ULTRA TX50. Its thin, nearly translucent construction lets you get a glimpse of what's packed inside, while the integrated cinch and mechanical zipper compression help contain bulky or irregular loads. We also removed the internal accessory pocket found on our standard TPC4, further simplifying the construction and reducing weight.

At just 3 ounces, TPC4 is a lightweight catch-all for the smaller pieces of your travel kit, sized to fit neatly alongside TPC10 inside CTB26.
