BEHIND THE DESIGN
Our bestselling backpack, CIVIC Panel Loader is crafted from custom developed textiles and advanced manufacturing techniques to achieve our benchmark for product design.
Built like gear, ages like leather
I'm an actor and filmmaker, and this bag goes everywhere with me — on set, to meetings, and on travel days. The waxed canvas is the reason I bought it, and it's already developing a patina that makes it look like it's been with me for years. Every scuff tells a story instead of looking like damage.
The organization is where it really earns its keep. Cards, drives, batteries, chargers, and cables all have a home, and I'm not digging around on set when I need something fast. The harness carries comfortably even fully loaded, and the top handle is solid for grab-and-go.
Leather zipper pulls and the patch panel are great details. Heritage look, modern function. Easily one of the best bags I own.
Still Loving My CPL16 After More Than a Year!
I’ve had my CPL16 for over a year now, and I still love it!
It’s been my everyday bag for work, and I use it almost every day. It’s still one of my favorite bags.
If I could ask Evergoods for one thing, it would be more color options!
I actually ordered the CPL24 X-Pac yesterday for my overseas business trips, and I can’t wait to try it.
The problem with Evergoods is that once you buy one bag, you just want more!
I really hope the design team will release more colors and different versions in Waxed Canvas and X-Pac. I would happily buy another one!
I guess I’m officially addicted to Evergoods! 😂
Keep up the great work, Evergoods!
I tend to be research heavy and consistently heard Evergoods mentioned for best EDC bags. I was trying to replace a laptop bag that I had for over 10 years and hoping to find a worthy replacement. I thought I had a nearly impossible criteria wanting backpack with a side loading laptop compartment and with incredible build quality. The Civic Panel Loader more than fit the bill. I initially started with the 16L but opted for the 24L to carry my full loadout and have a little extra room for quick business travel.
I get consistent comments and compliments on the bag and love to point them back to Evergoods. I could not say more about the Evergoods design and overall quality.
I did a lot of research on bags looking for a new backpack that would also fit underneath the seat of an airplane, but would also provide a high level of organization. This bag was on the expensive side, and I wasn't sure if it would be worth it. It's 100% worth it. I use this bag for everything. It's my personal item on planes because it fits under the seat. It's my bag to travel around the city. It's my bag for short getaways. I am an organization freak and I absolutely love this bag. I use the quick access on the top, and the zipper on the front. I am able to load the bag with a packing cube and all my things. It's water resistant which I love. The only knock I have read is that there is no water bottle holder, but I am not a water bottle carrier so that was perfect for me. I recommend this bag to anyone that asks. The 24L is worth the price. Such great value. I have only had it a couple months, but I expect it will last a long time. It's super durable and made high quality. I also love the handle on top for grabbing and going. It may seem silly, but its so easy to grab. The fit on the back is perfect also. No lower back bumping. I am 5' 10".
Love love love this bag. Evergoods is primarily my most bought brand of bags. I really enjoy their choice in materials and the space and volume their bags provide. I own the CPL 24 in OD Green, waxed canvas, and the CPL 16 in X-pac and waxed canvas. These are probably my favorite of all the bags I own. Super comfortable, the atheistic is so satisfying. It finds that sweet spot as a crossover bag. Can work in any setting. The side interior metal bar to add frame and shape to the bag is such an understated part of the ingenuity behind Evergoods thinking. The perfect bag. Just keep making more material and color ways. Maybe have an option for the key fob placement. And it would be nice to have more option when purchasing if someone prefers a lefty version. I am right handed but still prefer to swing the bag off my right shoulder and grab with my left.
Got this as a replacement for my every day carry backpack. Typically I have 16” laptop and changers, charge block, various items, lunchbox, change of clothes., The CPL24L is the ideal size for this with room to spare. Thought I might miss having a cup holder, but honestly it’s been a non issue, the water bottle fits neatly inside along side my lunchbox. The build quality is best I’ve seen in a back pack. Materials and zips are the best. The ability to stand up on its own and the side access zippers make this bag so easy to use. Definitely recommend
Great bag! Exceptional materials.
Size and configuration of the CPL16 is perfect for EDC needs. I think it packs larger than most 16L bags on the market. I was surprised by how natural the transition to panel loading felt; I've never carried a briefcase, messenger bag, or other panel loader. I'm not going back now that I've lived the CPL life.
The obvious knock -- no water bottle space -- is a negative, but there's plenty of internal space for a well-sealed bottle.
My normal pack-out: MacBook Air 13", iPad Air 11", small packing cube, 2 small journals, assorted small bits. I still have room for a sweater and an Owala water bottle without the bag feeling overpacked.
love this bag, got it from a sample sale and have been loving the reinforced walls. Gives the bag great structure, something I've been looking for in a backpack.
Currently traveling in Europe. Going to be out of the country for 2 months and this bag has been solid! Fits everything I need. I’m also using a 10L packing cube from evergoods, a 2L CAP. Love the entire ecosystem. Don’t overthink it. Just buy it you won’t regret. Buy once cry once.
I love the look of the tan color and the layout! The fabric is also awesome, I got this and the CTB26. The CTB26 is probably more functional for me, but I liked the fabric and aesthetic on the CPL24 more. It feels like it’s really well made and is going to last forever. My complaints:
- the shoulder straps have flaps presumably for a camelback. I will never use that feature and the flacks stick up / are loose in a way that looks kinda dorky. I wish they weren’t there or at least didn’t stick up like they do
- the back panel has been fine so far, no issues, but not as comfortable as other packs.
- I wish there was something to hold the loose straps down on the shoulder straps. There’s a lot of extra material flapping around with the way I have the straps adjusted.
Overall a great bag and I’ll use it for a long time, but not 100% perfect!
Used it for years. Great aesthetics. When the zippers gave out, they refunded me my original purchase price, even though it was 8 years later. I will always be a fan of their company!
I’m honestly shocked with the amount of items you can fit into this bag. Every time I think I’ve found the limit, I can somehow fit more. I have used this bag in every scenario from everyday wear to climbing Mt. Fuji and it did everything excellently.
I have had the 24L pack for a while now, and it is an absolute beast. I'm always surprised how much this thing can hold! From home to work with my laptop, water bottle, lunch, and the 2L Civic Access Pouch, to trips packed down with clothes and a dopp kit, this pack has come through.
That said, it does have two significant downsides that kept me from giving it 5 Stars. The major problem is there's no luggage passthrough. When I have my roller luggage, I want to be able to sit my backpack upright on the top so that I have a slim profile walking through tight spaces like an airplane aisle. The other more minor problem is that there's no dedicated water bottle sleeve, even on the inside.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "You should have just got the Civic Travel Bag instead". Yeah, maybe, but the silhouette of this bag is so nice, and I'm a sucker for aesthetics. Plus, the luggage passthrough is horizontal, and I don't want to put my bag on its side.
Was initially hesitant given the price but I absolutely love this bag. I travel frequently for work and this is now my default carry on and office bag. Durable, compartments for everything I need even at 16L. Plus it just looks good! Zero regrets with this purchase.
Totally happy with it, you can see it's great quality. Have been using it for a month as EDC (going to work w/ computer and notebook as well as going in the woods under the rain) with no issue, I'm sure it'll last at least 10 years. Have been through heavy rain with it without a single droplet inside. I particularly like the handle on the side, which lets you carry it like a suitcase, very useful in summer when you don't want to sweat on the back.
Only little downside : they don't sell it in grey. Black show dirt or sun cream stains more easily, I have to clean the bag more often than my previous grey one.
Perfect one bag travel backpack. Clamshell opening is a must. Love the side access. Comfy, padded straps feel great on my shoulders. Understated, intentional design. What's not to love?
I needed a versatile carry on item when flying. This pack more than exceeded my expectations. So much available storage and organization. I wish I located this pack sooner. 5 star quality and craftsmanship.
The CPL is the GOAT of organization. I own 14 backpacks - I acknowledge I may have a problem - none the less the CPL has my favorite organization of any of the bags I've owned. I have the 16L in 840d ballistic nylon, it's an absolutely beautiful bag and feels classic and durable. I love the material. It's my main EDC at this point and the bag I use the most often when heading the beach with my pups or to a local cafe. I really wish it came in a 20L, I know the CTB comes in a 20 as well but the CPL is more streamlined, I love the side access admin pocket and I don't really need a hydration pocket.
Really like the accessibility and design of the CPL24. The two laptop slots are a great utility as a computer engineering student, and can condense everything I need for a 2 day orientation period.
I bought the CPL24 as a birthday gift for my husband. At first, he thought it was a bit pricey, but after using it every day for a week, he told me it was absolutely worth it.
He says it's incredibly comfortable on his shoulders, even when it's fully packed, and there's plenty of room for everything he needs for work. The quality is outstanding, and it looks very professional, making it perfect for the office and business travel.
I have been looking for a new bag for daily commute to the office and after a few iterations with some other brands found this had the perfect balance of durability, comfort and professional look for going into the office. So far its been the perfect bag for a daily commute.
I snagged the X-PAC edition CPL16 on a whim while on sale and like it! The material looks great - feels more premium than the Aer X-PAC stuff I have, and the bag is a great size for modest EDC loads.
My one issue is that I’m still getting used to tightening and loosening the straps, which I’ve never had to do with a backpack before; the desired high and tight carry for Evergoods bags means I have to tighten the straps a lot, which makes it hard to take off the bag or doff it without loosening the straps first.
It’s stiff and thick yet remarkably lightweight, which means it holds its shape beautifully—something I absolutely love. The Coyote Brown interior is also a fantastic touch. It’s incredibly comfortable on my back, too. Snagging the X-PAC version on sale was definitely the right call. It was worth every penny, even with the proxy shipping fees and customs duties to South Korea.
Love it. Zippers are a bit rigid but they wear in a little, the 16L is perfect for back and forth to work. I would travel with a bigger size, not this one, just a bit too small.
I've been on the quest to find the best EDC backpack for 2-3 years now, I purchased 5 different backpacks and I stopped after owning the CPL for a few weeks. You can see I also complemented it with plenty of accessories, which I think is a must to take full advantage of the brand's packing system. I LOVE the orange, I love the heftiness of the zippers, I love the zipper pulls (so simple, but what an impact!), I love how it has a side handle, I love the large main compartment but also how it has plenty of small compartments for organization. And how do other brands not allow you to access your laptop from the side? So much better! The form factor is nice and sleek due to the lack of an external water bottle holder - something to be aware of when buying this one. When I travel I prefer using the CTB for that single reason (my daughter and wife have me carry their water bottles ;-)).
I must say they do need to bring back some fun colors again. BLUE PLEASE! :-)
I like the size of this bag. There’s a lot of room for just a daily commuter bag and *just enough* for a travel personal item/carry on. It’s a very understated look (which I like) and fits well under an airplane seat, even with my legs being quite long (6’4”). There are a few quibbles, though. I wish there were a few attachment points within the main compartment to hang a clip, just so everything doesn’t fall to the bottom. The top handle also had a tendency to slump down and be hard to find if the bag isn’t fully packed out. I do see what other reviewers have mentioned about the bottom of the bag digging into your lower back. It’s not something I would have really noted if people didn’t mention it though. Even though this is a really new bag it feels like it’ll wear and age well.
This is an insanely well thought out bag. The storage is great in it - just took it to Hawaii where it carried my stuff and stuff for 2 kids on hikes and beaches no problem. The easy access to so many different spaces is incredible - the fact that it opens fully but also works so well when you just need one little thing is its super power.
Physics defying comfort, too. For the first 2 weeks I had to double check that my laptop was in there. It’s so light on your back it’s hard to tell.
Really just an all around winner and a joy to use
I work in IT and routinely am trying to hold a laptop while doing random stuff in a dusty IDF. The ability to sling this bag over my left shoulder is amazing. I can get to everything in the bag without taking it off. I was hesitant about the organization but now that I’m almost a year in a love it! It also still looks brand new aside from some dust I need to wipe off lol
Not a single frayed stitch or any sign of wear
Only complaint is the lack of strap keepers! You could literally through some o rings on Velcro in there to be used to keep extra strap secured and not flapping all over the place.
Daily driver here in Phnom Penh. Work, gym, poolside for a swim, and tomorrow it’s coming with me on a field mission to Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. The OD Green blends right into Cambodia’s landscape. Packs efficiently, sits well on the back, and the panel load makes access easy no matter what you’re doing. A well thought out bag that actually travels. 🇰🇭
The textile quality of the backpack is excellent; it feels very high-quality and quite durable. I’ve already taken a couple of trips with it and I don’t regret the purchase at all. Customer service is also very good. Just as an observation, international shipping via FedEx can run into significant customs delays.
