What is Balanced Ballistic Nylon?

In creating Balanced Ballistic Nylon, yarns are twisted before the nylon is woven together, creating a more durable and abrasion resistant textile. Watch the video below as our design director, Kevin Dee, walks through the process.

Surprisingly, our search to find a hard-wearing and easy-cleaning update to our CIVIC textile led us back to traditional solutions. Adding a bit of twist (one of the primary characteristics of “ballistic” fabrics) has been used for millennia to add strength and durability to yarn. Solution-dyeing it and weaving it balanced in a relatively small denier has yielded a shell fabric that is more durable, more attractive, and more environmentally responsible than its predecessor. Our new 840d Balanced Ballistic fabric redefines Evergoods' CIVIC line.
