Updates Coming to MPL22

Kevin here from Evergoods. Our 210d fabric was brought into the line primarily as a lighter material option for use in linings and accessories. During the development of MPL22 we began to consider how it would work as a shell textile.

On paper, 210d makes a lot of sense for Mountain product. It’s very tightly woven from a smaller, high tenacity yarn, which creates a strong weave with a smooth, impenetrable surface. And it’s finished with a robust 80g polyurethane knife-coat on the back and a silicone finish on the face, giving the textile a nice hand-feel and increased weather resistance.

We actually made the first prototype of MPL22 out of this 210d fabric in early 2023, and loved the look and the feel of this build. It was fast and sleek, with just enough heft to feel reliable. But with no proven track record against the abuse that shell materials must endure, it felt risky to release it in a style intended for demanding mountain environments.
 
Not wanting to delay the release of MPL22, we stuck with our tried and true 420d at the launch, but all the while that first 210d prototype has been banging around in the real world and held up remarkably well! It’s been on ski hills and camping trips, been a primary day-bag on international adventures, and survived Middle School as a 13-year-old’s daily use bookbag. The testing was not kind, but the fabric shined!
 
Now, 3 years later, we’re excited to bring this upgrade to our customers with confidence in its durability and performance. We’ve reduced the weight and increased the weather protection for a product that truly embodies Mountain performance and rises to the occasion in-town and outdoors.
 
The updated 210d variation is on track to be released in May. To help move through the remaining inventory of the original 420d version, we're offering a discount on both the Solution Dyed Black and Expedition Yellow colorways. The discount will be available until the bags sell out.
