To Sale or Not to Sale?

Black Friday is here and we won’t be offering any sales.  Here is why:

We think our products are worth what we sell them for and are going to do our best to only offer sales during Kickstarter or the pre-order that follows as we wait to get stock in house.  Doing all design and development in house is expensive, time consuming, and NOT the norm for many brands.  This should be reflected in the retail cost.

We are working on a singular partnership that could offer a finite and limited discount on our products as they introduce our brand to their customers.  We think of this as in line with our goal, outlined above, of rewarding those of you who wish to support us up front for our new product development.  Thanks again to those of you who came and voted with your wallets during the Kickstarter and our current pre-order sale.  Because of you we are knee deep in developing our next two products.

These are nice thoughts but will require us to be cautious as we grow.   We will focus on the following (among other things) to help maintain our value:
  • Deliberate cash out lay for growth i.e. order inventory based on modest growth projections.  It is OK if we run out of stock but not if we run out of cash.  Running out of cash is a one-way ticket to flash sales, bankruptcy or both.
  • Buyback clause with our wholesalers.  If they want to discount because product did not move we will buy them back if possible.  This will also force us to not over-sell.
  • Never stop working on our in-house design/development process so we can evolve our skill sets and improve over time.
  • Give 1% of revenue to land conservation.  Learn about Gallatin Valley Land Trust here.
  • Introduce ways for you all to share your crossover lifestyle stories with us and others using our gear.  Working on this but first we need to deliver you your goods.  Our brainwaves are focused on how to roll something out on this front.
Next year’s Kickstarter is not that far away in design years.  Stay tuned here for updates of our work and the problems we are facing.  We are stoked to be 100% self-funded and in the driver’s seat.
Thank you for everything to date.  Now go do something amazing with your friends + families.

Onwards,

Jack and Kevin
