JOB TITLE: Product Developer
HOURS: Full-Time
LOCATION: Bozeman, Montana, USA
ROLE: The Product Developer works on a team with the Designer and Sample Technician to create standardized documentation of product styles that are developed in-house. The Product Developer uses this documentation as the foundation and reference point to transfer styles to factory partners where they are further-developed and approved for bulk production.
DUTIES: The Product Developer will create, organize and maintain the bulk of a collection of product-related documents known as the Tech Pack. These documents must be maintained and kept up-to-date to accurately reflect all product details, standards, specifications and requirements and effectively communicate these details to outside vendors. This will require detailed knowledge of EVERGOODS construction standards and individual style specifications along with extensive coordination with external Production and Raw Material Vendors in different parts of the world. It will also require coordination and communication with all members of the internal Product Team.
Above all the Product Developer must be organized, detail-oriented and an effective communicator.
This communication will involve written email, visual photography and illustration, as well as face-to-face interaction over video call or in-person. Due to the high level of detail in EVERGOODS products and the fact that work is coordinated with partners all over the world, this communication will contain appropriate formalities, but utilize language that is plain, direct, specific and concise. Additionally, the format and structure of these communications will strive for regularity and consistency, and documentation will adhere to EVERGOODS standards wherever applicable.
Once new products are approved for bulk production, the Product Developer will meet with the Quality Team to review and handoff the new style, familiarizing them with any areas of difficulty or confusion that were discovered during the factory development phase so that the Quality Team can effectively follow-up with in-line and finished-product inspection prior to release of bulk production. Illustrated QC documents and sample review documents will serve as record and reference of the critical details important to each style.
The Product Developer will create and maintain a Development Calendar and will communicate the calendar’s relevant events, timelines, and delivery dates to necessary parties to facilitate on-time completion of all deliverables.
The Product Developer may occasionally be required to travel to Trade Shows or Factories both domestic and overseas to meet with vendors in-person in order to further relationships, engage in ongoing business, facilitate problem-solving or on-boarding of a new style, or gain better understanding of the production environment.
The Product Developer must be organized. He/She will understand and maintain existing organizational protocols and will seek to improve or create organization where it is lacking for the benefit of the entire team and process.
