An innovative recycled performance fabric meets our all-terrain sling: MOUNTAIN Hip Pack 3.5L
Inspired by 35 years of creating advanced sailcloth fabrics, ECOPAK was developed by Challenge Outdoor as the world's only durable and waterproof fabric made from 100% recycled polyester film and fiber. Reclaimed plastic bottles turned into a stunning and eco-friendly textile more durable than traditional laminated nylon? Count us in.
We utilized a beautiful variation of ECOPAK, EPX400, as our main material and RBC400 (Recycled Bag Cloth) as our lining (more info on these incredible materials below). Then, we utilized PU-coated YKK Zippers for extra weather resistance.
With our signature design and exceptional fit, we present a unique, eco-friendly version of our mountain sling, built to handle years of rugged use.
ECO-FRIENDLY, DURABLE, & STUNNING
EPX400 is built from 100% recycled components, 400 denier face textile laminated to a waterproof 70d ripstop backing, and an added C0 DWR (aka fluorocarbon-free) finish. In short: abrasion, water, and UV resistance in a smooth, matte ECOPAK variation.
PLASTIC BOTTLES TO HIP PACKS
ECOPAK is the world’s only durable and waterproof fabric made from 100% recycled polyester fiber and film. Each yard upcycles about 20 plastic water bottles into strong technical textiles.
RECYCLED IN & OUT
The ECOPAK collection's lining is RBC400, or Recycled Bag Cloth in 400 denier weight. RBC400 is made from 100% recycled polyester with a PU coating that's C0 DWR (aka fluorocarbon-free) on the back side for water resistance. This is the same woven material that is on the face of the ECOPAK composite used in the shell.
PU COATED YKK ZIPPERS
To further weatherproof our ECOPAK collection, we’ve added on premium water-repellent zippers with RC Coil. This unique oval shape is designed for additional exposure protection and from being easily torn.
DUAL CARRY
MHP3.5 was built with excellent fit as a waist pack and shoulder carry so no matter your activity or carry preference, you’ll find comfort and access.
WIDE OPEN ACCESS
With a broad u-shaped zipper and drop-in pockets, your essential items are visible, organized, and accessed in a moment’s notice.

Lining: Standard Gray RBC400 (Recycled Bag Cloth in 400 denier weight) with PU coating
Shell and Lining are made of the same woven material.
